Physical therapy for Othopaedic issues focus on the treatment or rehab of injuries to the orthopedic system, which includes muscles, bones, joints, tendons, and ligaments. Physical Therapy is often helpful in the treatment of orthopedic conditions that can cause pain, decreased strength, decreased range of motion, or swelling.
What are the most common orthopedic surgeries requiring post-operative physical therapy?
The most common surgeries requiring post-operative physical therapy would be for the knees and shoulders. Today, most knee and shoulder surgeries are performed arthroscopically. Some specific surgeries for the knee would be ACL reconstruction, meniscectomy, meniscus repair, and lateral release of the patella.
Common surgeries for the shoulder would be rotator cuff repair, acromioplasty (shaving of bone spurs on the acromion), SLAP repair, and capsular tightening for loose shoulder joints.
In addition, joint replacement surgeries such as total knee replacements and total hip replacements often need post surgical outpatient physical therapy.

What is IASTM?
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization
It's non-invasive and uses uniquely designed stainless steel instruments to break down scar tissue. Similar to how a comb brushes out knots in your hair, these instruments are used to smooth out soft tissue abnormalities, improving your range of motion and decreasing pain.
Our Physical Therapists will assess your condition, evaluating your strength and range of motion in order to determine the appropriate treatment. Many of our patients see significant results in a couple sessions.
The instruments are uniquely designed with specific edges to ensure precise treatment. This increases more immediate response and decreases treatment time.
Massage therapy and physical therapy are practices that both aid in healing, relieving pain and restoring function. Massage therapy has more of a holistic approach where mind and body are one and the focus is primarily on the soft tissues. Physical therapy focuses one body part at a time, providing rehab to improve strength for it to work properly. The education level of each practice and tools utilized makes them different.
Anodyne Therapy is used for temporarily increasing circulation and reducing pain, stiffness and muscle spasm. Any condition, whether acute or chronic, that would benefit from these indications may benefit from the effects of this infrared therapy device.
Clinical applications include treatment of acute pain, injuries, muscle spasm, stiffness and pain and or poor circulation caused by chemotherapy, diabetes, vascular diseases, neuropathy and more.
Anodyne Therapy has no known drug interactions or side-effects. Infrared Light Therapy has been recognized for quite some time. Sunlight absorbed by chloroplasts in plant cells permits formation of starch. Sunlight absorbed by the skin generates vitamin D. Some wavelengths of light, including near infrared and ultraviolet light cannot be seen with the human eye, and yet cause biologic effects. Thousands of facilities across the world offer Anodyne Therapy with amazing results.
Relieve symptoms associated with whiplash, improve function and mobility and decrease back pain. A car accident can have a devastating effect and can be physically detrimental. Motor vehicle accidents often result in a variety of complex injuries and symptoms which include whiplash, headaches, back pain and injuries to the neck, shoulders, knees and other extremities. Individuals experience little or no symptoms initially following a car accident but subsequently suffer from a variety of symptoms including pain and decreased function and mobility. Often the trauma associated with these types of injuries takes days and sometimes weeks to manifest itself. That is why it is important to receive immediate and appropriate treatment following an auto accident. The longer you delay treatment the harder it may be to get back to normal.
